Treatments chosen to change how your teeth look, planned digitally and quoted in writing before anything begins.
Cosmetic dentistry is not one treatment. It is a group of them, joined by a shared purpose: changing the colour, shape, alignment or proportion of your teeth. Some of those treatments are purely aesthetic. Many of them also repair or protect a tooth at the same time, which is why the boundary between cosmetic and general dentistry is softer than most websites suggest.
Divine Dental Care is at 59 Wicklow Avenue in Croydon, about two minutes from Croydon Station with parking on site. We see patients from across the eastern corridor, including Croydon North, Croydon South, Croydon Hills, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Heathmont, Mooroolbark, Kilsyth and Bayswater. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Ten dentists work here, and they do not all do the same work. If you are considering something specific, it is worth saying so when you book, because we can put you with a clinician who does a lot of it.
Not sure which treatment applies to you?
Book a consultation. A dentist will examine your teeth, talk through what you want to change, and give you a written plan with costs. No treatment is booked at that appointment.
Each of these has its own page with detail on how it works, what is involved and what to expect.
Cosmetic treatment goes wrong when the planning is rushed, so most of the value sits before any tooth is touched.
We scan rather than take putty impressions. An intraoral scanner builds a 3D model of your teeth in a few minutes, which is more comfortable than a tray of impression material and gives us a file we can plan against and keep. For cases involving implants or the underlying bone, we also have cone beam CT on site, so there is no separate referral to an imaging centre.
Shade is chosen with you rather than for you, in daylight where possible, because artificial light changes how a shade reads. If you want a result that does not announce itself, tell the dentist at the planning stage. It changes the material and the shade we would recommend, and it is much easier to decide before treatment than after.
You will get a written plan setting out what is proposed, in what order, what each stage costs, and what your health fund is likely to pay. You can take it away and think about it.
Some things are worth saying plainly.
Cosmetic treatment sits on top of dental health, not instead of it. If there is active decay or gum disease, that gets treated first. Bonding a veneer over an unhealthy foundation does not last, and it is not a reasonable thing to charge someone for.
Results vary between people because teeth vary between people. Enamel thickness, the shade you start from, how your teeth meet, the amount of tooth structure remaining and whether you grind at night all affect what is achievable and how long it lasts. A dentist can tell you what is realistic for your teeth at the consultation, and that answer is more useful than any general claim on a website.
Whitening in particular has limits. It lifts staining within enamel. It does not change the colour of restorations, and teeth darkened by trauma or by antibiotics taken during tooth development respond differently to teeth stained by coffee. That is a conversation to have before you start, not after.
We are a preferred provider at the top tier with BUPA, Medibank, HCF and NIB, and we have HICAPS at the practice so your rebate is claimed on the spot rather than reimbursed later.
How much comes back depends on the treatment. Work with a restorative purpose, such as a crown or a tooth-coloured filling, commonly attracts a rebate. Purely cosmetic work such as whitening usually attracts little or none, regardless of your level of cover. We will check your specific entitlements before you commit to anything, and our health fund page sets out which funds we hold preferred provider status with.
A cosmetic consultation is an examination and a conversation. The dentist checks the health of your teeth and gums, listens to what you would change, explains which treatments apply and which do not, and gives you costs in writing. Nothing is booked on the day unless you want it to be.
