Cosmetic concerns usually come down to colour, shape or position, and each points to a different treatment: whitening, veneers or bonding, or aligners. The consultation is an examination and a conversation, and you leave with a written plan and costs. Nothing is booked on the day unless you want it to be.
How cosmetic treatment is plannedA crown caps a tooth that is cracked, heavily filled or weakened after a root canal. For suitable teeth we scan the tooth, design the crown on screen and mill it from a ceramic block here in about 10 to 15 minutes, so it is fitted the same day with no temporary. Some teeth still suit a laboratory crown, and the dentist will tell you which yours is.
Crowns and bridges · Same-day crownsAn implant replaces a missing tooth root and can carry a single crown, a bridge or a denture. Planning starts with a 3D scan on our own cone beam CT, and the implant usually takes three to six months to bond with the bone before the final tooth is fitted. If bone volume is short, a graft may come first.
The dental implant process, stage by stageCall (03) 9725 8040 and describe what has happened. We keep time aside for urgent problems, tell you honestly how soon we can see you, and talk you through what to do in the meantime. We are open Saturdays until 5pm, so a tooth that breaks late in the week does not have to wait until Monday.
What to do in a dental emergencyAlongside the treatments above, the Croydon rooms handle the routine care we generally recommend every six months for the whole family.
Comprehensive check-ups, professional cleaning, fillings, and preventive care to keep your smile healthy. We focus on early detection and long-term oral health.
Clear aligners and traditional braces to straighten teeth for children, teens, and adults. We create personalised orthodontic plans for effective results.
Child-friendly check-ups, fissure sealants and fluoride treatments. We bulk bill eligible children aged 0-17 through the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
Cosmetic dentistry covers a wide range, and the first job of the consultation is working out which end of it you actually need. Someone unhappy with the colour of their teeth needs a different conversation from someone whose front teeth are chipped, or worn short from grinding, or crowded. Those look like one problem in the mirror and are three different treatments in the chair.
If shade is the issue, teeth whitening is the least invasive option and nothing is removed from the tooth. If the shape or position is the issue, veneers change both, though they are a permanent commitment because enamel is prepared to make room for them. Where the teeth are sound but crooked, clear aligners often get you a better long-term result than covering the crowding over, and they keep your own enamel.
Worn front teeth are their own category. Grinding, acid erosion and years of use shorten teeth gradually, and the fix is building the worn teeth back up rather than whitening them. If grinding caused it, a grinding splint comes with the treatment, because rebuilt teeth wear down again under the same forces that wore the originals.
We plan cosmetic work from a digital scan taken here on the day, and everything is done at the Croydon rooms rather than referred on. Cosmetic treatment usually takes several appointments over weeks, so the run up Dorset Road is worth factoring in when you decide where to have it done.
We are preferred providers at the top tier with Medibank, BUPA, HCF and NIB, which those funds call Members Choice Advantage, Members First Platinum, More For Teeth and First Choice.
