What Montrose Asks About
Replacing missing teeth, repairing worn or broken ones, and cosmetic work are covered below. Each of these is done in the one Croydon practice, from the first scan to the final fit.
An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth, and it can carry a single crown, a bridge or a denture. Planning starts with x-rays or a 3D scan, and our cone beam CT is in the Croydon building, so there is no extra trip to a radiology clinic. The implant then integrates with the bone, typically over three to six months, before the final tooth is fitted.
Full dentures replace every tooth in an upper or lower arch. Partial dentures fill the gaps and clasp onto the teeth you still have, in acrylic or with a thinner cobalt-chrome framework. We make dentures here at the practice, and new ones usually need a follow-up visit or two to fine-tune the fit, which is simpler when it is one drive along Mount Dandenong Road each time.
A crown covers a tooth weakened by a large filling, a crack or root canal treatment. For suitable teeth we scan the tooth, design the crown on screen and mill it from a ceramic block here during your appointment, so there is no temporary crown and no second trip from Montrose. Other cases use porcelain, zirconia or porcelain-fused-to-metal over two visits.
Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, shade or proportion. Composite veneers can often be done in one appointment, while porcelain takes two or more. Professional whitening lifts staining in the enamel but will not change the colour of existing crowns or fillings. A cosmetic consultation ends with a written plan and costs, and nothing is booked on the day unless you want it to be.
Why Choose Us
We are in the top-tier network for four funds: Bupa Members First Platinum, Medibank Members Choice Advantage, HCF More For Teeth and nib First Choice. Medibank, HCF and Bupa members with eligible extras cover can have two no-gap check-ups and cleans a year with us, conditions apply. We are also a preferred provider for CBHS, GMHBA, Australian Unity, Westfund and more, we accept DVA Gold and White cards, and HICAPS means your rebate comes off at the desk.
The practice is accredited through Quality Innovation Performance (QIP), which independently checks our infection control, patient safety and clinical governance. For anyone from Montrose planning implant or denture work over several visits, that standard applies to every stage of it.
Ten dentists, an oral health therapist and a dental hygienist work from the Croydon rooms, with cone beam CT, an intraoral scanner and an in-house milling unit in the same building. Fewer handovers to outside clinics means fewer separate trips down from the foothills. Members of the team speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese and Korean.
We are open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:30am to 5:00pm. Montrose has no railway station, so most people drive to us, and a Saturday appointment means that drive does not come out of a work day.
Montrose has two government primary schools, Montrose Primary and Billanook Primary. Children who qualify for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule can receive up to $1,158 in dental benefits over two calendar years, and we bulk bill it, so there is nothing to pay on the day.
It is about 6.2 km by road from Montrose to Divine Dental Care in Croydon, west along Mount Dandenong Road through Kilsyth, and the car park is on site. If you would rather take the train, Mooroolbark is the nearest station to Montrose; Croydon is the next stop towards the city, and we are about two minutes from Croydon Station. Call or book online, Saturdays included.
Kilsyth sits between Montrose and our practice on the same road, Mooroolbark has the nearest station, and Chirnside Park and Bayswater North are close by as well. The Kilsyth, Mooroolbark, Chirnside Park and Bayswater North pages each describe the trip from there. All of them lead to the same practice at 59 Wicklow Avenue, with the same range of treatments.
